How Frontier AI Models Are Built — And The Future Of The Cutting Edge

02 June Online

About this event

A special "summer party" meetup and a panel on frontier AI models and the future of AI!

We'll be using the VU's biggest lecture hall (pictures below) for a meetup on frontier AI models — and we'll celebrate the start of the summer! We've received a lot of requests for a meetup on two related topics. First, how are frontier AI models (like Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI's ChatGPT, etc.) actually built and improved? Second, the community has requested a hype-free discussion of the future and how cutting-edge models may evolve. So we'll be covering both topics in the June AI on the Amstel meetup! We'll announce the full panel lineup soon. We'll have leading AI researchers on this panel.

We'll celebrate the start of the summer with a twist on our usual meetup format. From 17:00 to 18:00, we will gather in an outdoor area for networking. From 18:00 to 19:15, we'll all walk to the NU building right nearby and sit in the VU's biggest lecture hall for the panel. It's a two minute walk away. After the panel concludes, we'll go back to the outdoor area for more networking.

The address of the outdoor party/networking area is De Boelelaan 1095a, 1081 HV Amsterdam. It's the VU StartHub, a blue container village in the middle of the VU campus square. If you arrive a little late (which is fine) and are going straight to the lecture hall, the address of the lecture hall is De Boelelaan 1111, 1081 HV Amsterdam. The lecture hall is Theaterzaal 1.

For those who are new to the meetup, the AI on the Amstel meetup is a monthly technical meetup that features knowledgeable speakers discussing "in the weeds" AI topics and challenges. This meetup caters to engineers, product managers, and founders in AI.

The AI on the Amstel meetup is the largest monthly AI event in Amsterdam. We get 200-400+ people a month depending on the size of the venue that month and the topic. For example, here are the pictures of the crowds at our three most recent meetups: a meetup at Amsterdam's flagship public library, a meetup at the AMS Institute graduate school, and a meetup at Booking's headquarters.

Also, a big shout-out and thank you to our new meetup sponsor — Alibaba and Qwen! Qwen is the leading AI model in China. Want to learn more? Reach out to Kas or Daniel from the team based in the Netherlands.

I hope to see you at the June meetup!

Quick answers about how DevFound's AI matching, resumes, and referrals work.

DevFound's AI Copilot ingests your profile, goals, and live job data to deliver curated matches in seconds. Every match includes a resume variant, suggested referrals, and interview prep so you can act immediately. The more feedback you provide, the sharper the Copilot becomes.

AI-led job searches shrink the hours spent sifting through boards and formatting resumes. DevFound pairs automation with your personal outreach, so you reserve energy for interviews and negotiation. Traditional networking still matters, but AI gives you a lift before you even send a message.

Modern AI roles expect comfort with production-grade code, data fluency, and practical ML tooling. The strongest candidates pair deep technical chops with storytelling—translating model impact to product, GTM, and exec partners. Continuous learning keeps you ahead as stacks evolve.

DevFound rewards active seekers. Keep your profile fresh, respond to match quality prompts, and enable alerts so you never miss a role. The AI prioritizes companies and teams that align with your feedback, accelerating both introductions and interview invites.

High-density tech hubs continue to host the deepest AI talent pools, yet distributed teams are catching up fast. Use DevFound filters to hone in on onsite, hybrid, or fully remote roles and watch openings expand across time zones.

DevFound aggregates thousands of remote AI openings and flags the nuances—core hours, async culture, and visa needs—up front. The Copilot also recommends how to position your distributed work experience so hiring managers know you can thrive on a remote team.
