About this episode

Hi Mamas,

Have you ever had one unexpected moment make you feel like all your plans were about to fall apart?

That's exactly what happened to my family just 36 hours before we were supposed to leave for Spain.

In this episode, I'm sharing the story of the huge curveball that had us questioning whether we'd even make the trip… and the three mindset shifts that helped me move from panic and overwhelm to problem-solving.

Life is always going to throw us unexpected challenges. Whether it's something happening at work, a financial setback, a parenting struggle, or an unexpected health issue, we can't always control what happens to us. But we can control how we respond.

One simple question completely changed my perspective:

"What's my next best step?"

Instead of trying to solve the entire problem, I focused on taking one step at a time… and that's exactly what I hope you'll do the next time life throws you a curveball.

In this episode, I share:

✨ The unexpected event that almost caused us to cancel our family vacation to Spain.

✨ Why trying to solve the entire problem often creates more overwhelm.

✨ The three mindset shifts that helped me move forward when everything felt uncertain.

✨ How I used ChatGPT as a brainstorming and problem-solving tool during one of our most stressful weekends.

✨ Why different doesn't automatically mean ruined—and how some of life's biggest curveballs often become our favorite memories.

My Three Takeaways

💛 Accept reality faster.

I didn't have to like what was happening, but accepting it allowed me to stop wishing things were different and start looking for solutions.

💛 Focus on what you can control.

I couldn't magically heal Michael's ankle, but I could research options, make backup plans, adjust our expectations, and keep moving forward.

💛 Don't let one problem steal your joy.

Our vacation looked different than we originally imagined, but different didn't mean ruined. In fact, some of our favorite memories came from the very thing we thought might derail the trip.

This Week's Reflection

The next time life throws you a curveball, pause and ask yourself:

"What's my next best step?"

You don't have to have the entire plan figured out today.

You just have to keep moving forward, one step at a time.

Quick answers about how DevFound's AI matching, resumes, and referrals work.

DevFound's AI Copilot ingests your profile, goals, and live job data to deliver curated matches in seconds. Every match includes a resume variant, suggested referrals, and interview prep so you can act immediately. The more feedback you provide, the sharper the Copilot becomes.

AI-led job searches shrink the hours spent sifting through boards and formatting resumes. DevFound pairs automation with your personal outreach, so you reserve energy for interviews and negotiation. Traditional networking still matters, but AI gives you a lift before you even send a message.

Modern AI roles expect comfort with production-grade code, data fluency, and practical ML tooling. The strongest candidates pair deep technical chops with storytelling—translating model impact to product, GTM, and exec partners. Continuous learning keeps you ahead as stacks evolve.

DevFound rewards active seekers. Keep your profile fresh, respond to match quality prompts, and enable alerts so you never miss a role. The AI prioritizes companies and teams that align with your feedback, accelerating both introductions and interview invites.

High-density tech hubs continue to host the deepest AI talent pools, yet distributed teams are catching up fast. Use DevFound filters to hone in on onsite, hybrid, or fully remote roles and watch openings expand across time zones.

DevFound aggregates thousands of remote AI openings and flags the nuances—core hours, async culture, and visa needs—up front. The Copilot also recommends how to position your distributed work experience so hiring managers know you can thrive on a remote team.
